"have you ever been to love street?
have you tried on all the shoes?
they're for walking on the clouds with
& not for down here in the blues"

My feet hurt.

They aren't just "a bit sore" ... they HURT in a way I didn't know feet could hurt. If they had tiny feet mouths they would be screaming like the crazy little cat boy in The Grudge right about now. On payday I vow to buy them a new pair of shoes, something big & clunky & expensive & very unfeminine & unattractive, but comfortable & practical & I'll wear them & hear my poor feet sigh with newfound smiles on their imaginary mouths.

My head hurts.

Possibly not enough sleep, but more than likely a combination of too much information in a short period of time being crammed into it & the fact that I really need a beer or twelve. There are things going on that I don't want to know, that I never wanted to know & would never have imagined having to know & now that I know I can't get rid of them. They're gnawing at my temples in the worst way, competing with the feet for attention.

My heart hurts.

Father's Day is on the way. I am reminded of this fact a thousand times a day when I direct the attention of my customers toward our American Crew display & pimp expensive pomades & shaving creams ... "remember, Father's Day is this coming Sunday." All the while in the back of my mind wishing I could finish my pitch with "... my Dad won't be getting anything because he's become the Great American Cliche & is having an affair with his 33 year old tart of a country music loving secretary, but hey ... maybe your Dad isn't such an asshole & would like something other than a large box of middle fingers & hateful glances to celebrate his special day. How about some herbal after shave?"

So it all hurts & I'm still plugging away. Hoping that sooner or later something will give & some of the pressure will be released from one or more of my throbbing chakras.

Peppermint foot lotion is my friend.

Anybody got an extra Xanax?
