those were the happiest days of my life, like a break in the battle was your part in the wretched life of a lonely heart" |

Friday, Apr. 08, 2005 @ 9:26 pm A Friday night spent at home. Feeding logs to the fire & watching television (a rare thing for me indeed) with the newest addition to my family, Mu Shu. Mu Shu is a tiny little ball of energy & orange fur. A ferocious little fucker that wakes me up every morning by batting at my eyes with his steely little claws. Yes, I got me a new kitty. He was found under Tammy's porch, all alone, three weeks old & since he was orange & I only like orange cats... it was decided to be fate & I was whined at until I agreed. Back to the TV thing though, how stoked (yet annoyed) was I to see that I could (read: had to) choose between Roseanne, Family Guy & SNL repeats? I opted out of Family Guy because I'd seen the episode a few times, but it was the Roseanne episode that's Gilligan's Island with Jackie as Gilligan & Roseanne as Ginger & it slays me & at the same time SNL's host was Conan O'Brien (when he does Moleculo... "THE MOLECULAR MAN" I fucking die laughing). I did the only thing I could do, popped up a batch of Mallow Magic Jolly Time Microwave Popcorn (holy shite it's delicious) & abused the hell out of the remote for an hour. Aside from that, we had a freak snow storm today which left half of the retirees in town stranded on the side of the road in their gas guzzling SUVs. The quarter inch it takes to freak them out didn't phase my little Honda one bit though & Millie whizzed past them with ease, while I enjoyed laughing merrily the entire time. Is it a law of nature that people over the age of 55 are morons? Or maybe just people from the big cities who move up to our little mountain town after they retire with no clue how to live in the "country" where the nearest LL Bean outlet is an hour & a half away? I'm sending copies of my Iron & Wine collection to an old favorite from D-Land (before she headed for LiveJournal she was known around these parts as back-drifts) who just recently discovered them. It prompted me to listen to The Creek Drank The Cradle over & over as I watched the snow fall & worked on the CD sleeves while drinking carrot juice & drooling over the sauciness of Sam Beam's voice. He swoons me indeed (& I promise it's not just the beard). Tomorrow after work, Nico & I are heading to San Jose for the Spring Style Show. We got free tickets from work & decided it would be a good excuse to head down to the city & get some shopping in. So we've got a swanky hotel room on reserve & should have a good time watching the catwalkers & the hair-hoppers strut their stuff. I hear there's a booze stand around every corner too, which works for me since Nico is driving & we're going to hit Ikea on our way home. Drunken shopping is so enjoyable that I can only imagine drunken Ikea shopping to be off the charts as far as the fun factor goes. Looking SO forward to April 29th because of this movie. Looking SO forward to May 3 because of this album. Still peeking around for live shows to fill my Spring / Summer weekends. I'd like to catch Crooked Fingers on tour & The Pixies at Roseland in Portland could definitely make my year. No big arena shows that interest me have yet surfaced however, ah well, I'll take the intimacy of The Warfield over the sweaty stench of Shoreline any day of the week. :looping on the Kazoo-Pod: The Pretenders ~ Back on the Chain Gang
