Sunday, Mar. 18, 2007 @ 11:28 am I can't even figure out how to begin my sentences anymore. It's Spring. Not officially for another couple of days, but close enough. My early Spring obsessions this year: 1: Vegan cooking (specifically the baking aspect of it). I've been mostly vegetarian (fish or chicken once or twice a month) for the past [eeek] 18 years, but recently bought this cookbook from work & made the best [pumpkin] waffles ever!ever!ever! Even the meaty-potato-boy loved them. Can't wait to try more recipes. Many, many, many more. There's also this one by the same author which I've got on order at work. Oohhh let the dirty vegan bakery begin. 2: The Four Winds Ep from Bright Eyes which Rad-Boy picked up for me yesterday, yes, already obsessed with it as tends to happen when Conor goes & makes new albums. There's one song, "Smoke Without Fire" that is extremely Leonard Cohen-esque with it's subdued guitars & slow, pacing, echoey vocals via Conor & M Ward that's got me drooling. Can't wait for Cassadega to come in the mail at the end of the month. 3: Concert tickets. Not like those aren't always on my list, but it's early Spring when the bands are out in droves, tempting me with their ultra-goodness. So far Suki, Davey & I are seeing Social D @ The Senator on April 14 ... James & I are seeing The Shins & Viva Voce @ The Warfield on April 16 ... & Suki, Davey & I are seeing Bright Eyes, Jim James, Gillian Welch & Oakley Hall on May 4. Bring 'em on. 4: Home Improvement. I want to paint & plant & redo & renovate & decorate & basically get my domestic on in any way, shape or form I possibly can. 5: The "new" job. I just love it. Everything about it. The challenge; the product; the pay; the endless alphabetizing; checking out any book I want. Our crew (minus one sour apple) is devine at the moment & we continually get shit done & have fun & it's so much more pleasant than the old job was. I am happy to go to work every day, even though the DAYS OFF are just as nice. Yes, me ... I've got DAYS [that's plural folks] OFF! I went way too long without those. Oh did I ever. 6: My new neice, Sequoya Rose, should arrive any time, literally ... she was due on the 9th & as of Thursday she was already 9 lbs 8 oz (I told Cedar it was his fault she's so big, naming her after a Redwood tree & all) & still not ready to come out. On my way to the hospital now though because they just induced labor & let's hope it goes well. It will be so nice to finally meet her. :blowing my speakers: Bright Eyes ~ Smoke Without Fire
