"i close my eyes ... every night ... & i dream that i can hold you"

I sat down at my desk with half a blueberry muffin from Mimi's Cafe intent on some breakfast before the onslaught of after holiday cleaning begins. This Tom Waits song came on my Itunes ... The Day After Tomorrow it was ... & it made me stop. Completely stop. All thought, all movement & I stared out the window watching the rain fall steady through my Cedar & the birds fly around the meadow, surprised as I am by the sudden arrival of Winter.

I am still not over the fact that my store is closing, but it's sinking in more now that we've let our employees in on the information. I can't stand the thought that I've got to start job hunting now. Especially when I'm almost sure that whatever I end up doing isn't going to be as fulfilling or enjoyable as selling books has been for me.

Christmas was really great this year. I finally got that Kitchen Aid Classic Plus Mixer I've been pining over for many moons now & everything else I could have possible hoped for as well. It was just the family & we had a great time, played poker & Guitar Her0 III (which has Social D - Story Of My Life, Squeal) & had a taco bar for dinner & everything was pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty good.

I've got company coming to exchange Xmas gifts today & I should be cleaning. We're going to see The Devil Makes Three tonight with Suki & Davey. Some dinner beforehand, not sure where yet. I just want to sit on my couch & listen to Daniel Johnston & read my book & pretend nothing big is coming my way.

I'm trying to fight off the adult hardening that seems to be taking over everyone I know.

I've adopted a quote from Einstein as my personal mantra:
“Three Rules of Work:
Out of clutter find simplicity;
From discord find harmony;
In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity.”
